Learn More About Sophie

Yoga has taught me what it means to live inspired. I believe that teaching is an act of service that embodies Maya Angelou’s quote, “When you learn, teach. When you get, give.” This is the quintessence of my core beliefs as a yoga teacher.

As a practitioner of yoga first, I am committed to learning in perpetuity. I am certain that the totality of yoga has something to offer you if you come open, willing and ready to fall madly in love with where you are. Strength and Flexibility are not required, just an open mind and an open heart.

My classes are a blend of mind/body integration and an emphasis on SOUL.

I look forward to meeting you and learning with YOU.

Erin Ayres

Erin Ayres

Learn More About Erin

Erin Ayres has been a faithful practitioner of multiple forms of yoga for the past ten years. Over the previous decade, Erin has continually expanded her practice, experimenting at various points with the following styles of yoga: Hot, Ashtanga, Iyengar, Baptiste Power Vinyasa, and Yin/Restorative. In the spring of 2014, Erin began teacher training and has completed her 200–hour YTT at MOSAIC, 100-hour Hot Yoga certification, as well as a Yin/Restorative certification. As far as teaching philosophy is concerned, Erin passionately believes in the importance of creating her own dynamic sequences. All of Erin’s classes—whether Yin or Vinyasa—have a specific focus on postures that flow logically and effortlessly into one another. If your mind is overly fixated on perfectly performing a pose, then the gateway to the heart is blocked. Erin believes that the essence of yoga is to lovingly reunite us with our strayed heart.

Marie Hershman

Marie Hershman

Learn More About Marie

I am in awe of the divine wisdom that resides within each of us and find great joy in facilitating others to access and explore this within themselves.

I am grateful for the many teachers and practices which have focused my journey inward, beyond the mind, and toward the depths of our inner knowing and healing potential. The consistent practices of Reiki, meditation, prayer, yoga, light journeys and ritual have gifted me with a profound faith in our ability to align to our highest potential, transform our lives, and uplift our world.

19 years ago, I discovered the beautiful gift of Reiki. I immediately felt at home in the world of energy. I found a place where my sensitive self had a purpose and the tools to live in the world with an open heart. As the loving vibration of Reiki opened new spaces within me, I embarked on a journey of self healing.  The people who came to receive Reiki became my teachers, as I witnessed them healing themselves and blossoming before my eyes.  Inspired to empower others to explore their own relationship with this powerful healing energy, I completed my Reiki Master training in 1996 and opened a practice in Cleveland , Ohio, offering Reiki sessions and trainings.

Three years ago, my husband and I were inspired to act on our dream to move to San Diego. Two years into our empty nest (we have 2 amazing adult children), we sold all our possessions, packed up whatever fit in our car, and headed for California. Miraculously supported by the universe, we immediately connected with a spiritual family of beautiful, authentic souls here at Mosaic. It is truly a blessing and an honor to serve in this loving community.

MOSAIC Co-Founder

Learn More About Ryan

I am a co-founder of MOSAIC. What I am most devoted to is the art of leadership as a noble endeavor.

I’ve spent 15 years asking myself, “What does it take to develop leaders?”  This has led to more questions, more study, and no complete answers.  By contemplating this question, I’ve discerned a few basic principles, virtues, and practices that have led to the creation of the Theory of Sagacious Leadershipand the Light of Leadership training series.

The writings of the Warriors, Sages, Saints, and Philosophers have served as teachers, guides, and anchors as I continue to seek Truth.

Currently, I specialize in creating leadership development programs for US Special Operations Units.

Prior to MOSAIC, I served as a Captain in the US Marine Corps, a strategic manager at the Center for Creative Leadership, and a management consultant at Deloitte Consulting and KPMG Consulting.  Previous clients have been Google, Microsoft, Starbucks, T-Mobile, Yahoo, Amgen, Genentech, Deloitte, and the Department of Defense.  I also earned a M.S. in Leadership and have completed over 2,500 hours of leadership training.

I pray each of us finds our way to the truth of who we are, why we are here, and what we are here to fulfill.

John O'Brien

John O'Brien

Learn More About John

I first discovered yoga in 2004. Initially I practiced asana as a means to find greater physical health. Over time I began to appreciate profound benefits of yoga for the mind—the ability to be more focused, less reactive, more accepting of change, more resilient and compassionate—and I became increasingly interested in yogic philosophy, especially the parallels between yogic, Stoic, and Buddhist philosophies. I have found tremendous value in exploring yoga as a guide for how to live, for how to be present and good in a world filled with distraction. This practice has enriched my life profoundly; I am honored to be able to share my experience in class.
Rachel Max

Rachel Max

Learn More About Rachel

Rachel is ecstatic to continue her yoga journey as a teacher at MOSAIC after having completed MOSAIC's 200 hour yoga teacher training in May of 2015, as well as MOSAIC's Healing Yin Yoga and Reiki I training in August of the same year. Originally from Washington, DC, Rachel moved to San Diego in 2013 after graduating from Kenyon College with a B.A. in music and vocal performance. Yoga became Rachel’s constant throughout the rollercoaster experience of moving across the country, and she slowly realized the transformative power of this practice through the subtle but steady shift in her mental, energetic, and emotional wellness. As a singer, Rachel found the similar breath work and pranayama of yoga comforting at a time when so much of her daily life was unfamiliar. Rachel discovered through her own practice that yoga creates the space to develop a compassionate, ever-expansive relationship with oneself. For her, yoga asana is a time to heal, love, play, laugh, dance, release, and be in a state of wonder, and she strives to bring that awe-inspired energy to all of her classes.

Learn More About Meaghan

Yoga has been one of the most important sources of clarity, calmness, restoration and freedom in my life. Every single class I take or teach offers something for me to learn and some way for me to grow, leaving me more connected to myself and what it is I really am. In my classes I intend for people to experience the space to be exactly who they are, to  explore freely and deepen their intuition and awareness through breath and mindful movement. I believe that freedom and joy exist in our own hearts, that we have everything we need, and that yoga helps us see and experience just that.

Michael discovered the practice of yoga through MOSAIC in 2010 while searching for a way to connect with a deeper understanding of himself. Through the physical practice of yoga and the spiritual practice of Reiki, he was able to seek wisdom alongside a community that thirsted for it. In order to gain greater insight into his own practice Michael completed MOSAIC’s  200 hour Yoga Teacher Training course and later became a Master Reiki Teacher at MOSAIC.

Michael enjoys helping individuals to develop body awareness and a greater understanding of their own conscious experiences through the practice of yoga — Exploring each pose with a combination of breathwork, intention, and physical awareness.

Cat Reynolds

Cat Reynolds

Learn More About Cat

Yoga is the relationship that is built between the body, the mind, and the breath. Yoga is creating a space free from obstacles in your own body to live. Yoga is freedom and release.” Cat began practicing yoga in 2009 when illness drove her to look for better ways to take care of herself. After that first class, she knew she had stumbled upon something special and hasn’t stopped practicing since. She received her 200-hr certification from Yandara Yoga Institute in Baja, Mexico. While there she lived in a tent, practiced yoga for 10 hours a day, did handstands on the beach, meditated in the mountains, became a certified reiki practitioner, and fell in love with herself and her fellow yogis. She believes everyone has the right to be their most authentic selves and that yoga and reiki can help us all discover our full potential. Through teaching, she hopes to help her students see their own beautiful, unique lights. Outside of the studio, Cat is a Civil Engineering student at UVa, specializing in environmental engineering and water resources. She also works as a crisis counselor for Crisis Text Line, is a member of the sorority Delta Delta Delta, and sings with the all female a cappella group, Hoos in Treble. A world traveler, her greatest joy is travelling to strange places and meeting new people. One of the best experiences of her life was living in a small fishing village in Cambodia, teaching English. In the future, she hopes to use her degree and passion for service to help the millions of people who lack safe water and to protect Mother Earth.

Learn More About Meg

Meg is a Certified Yoga Teacher, having completed MOSAIC’s 200-hour teacher training in the Spring of 2016.

A nationally competitive athlete at an early age, Meg sought to redefine her relationship with her body and mind. During and after college, she channeled her drive into a variety of high-energy, competitive activities, including intense fitness classes, roller derby and becoming a certified Spin® instructor. Amidst MOSAIC’s supportive community, Meg came to understand and appreciate yoga as a dynamic and challenging commitment to one’s spiritual, emotional and physical health.

Meg now sees the practice of yoga as an essential tool for mindful, loving, joyous living, and her classes reflect that belief. She aims to make each class a fun, challenging, yet accessible celebration of the inner and outer strength that lies in each of us. Mike Keenan

Mike Keenan

Learn More About Mike

Mike Keenan, RYT-200 and owner of The Juice Landry, began practicing yoga as a law school student at the University of Virginia. His practice at first consisted primarily of Bikram Yoga and served as a means of getting back into shape several years removed from a collegiate career in baseball as a left-handed pitcher. Yoga came to Mike as a completely new and challenging way of movement and breath — an activity very diverse from the weightlifting and conditioning activities he had participated in as an athlete for his entire life prior. The challenge was both humbling and refreshing; he felt more connected to and empowered in his own body in a way he had never felt before. He completed his 200-hour teacher certification at Mosaic Yoga with Ryan Glidden, Melissa Love, and Ryan Krupa of San Diego. Mike especially enjoys working with athletes, both current and former, employing yoga as a means of improving strength, stability, recovery, and body awareness/intelligence.
